Are Big Brother contestants paid?

Big Brother houseguests do indeed get paid for appearing on the show.

However, the amount they earn at the end of the show depends on how long they stay in the game.

Houseguests get paid $1k each week they stay in the house, according to Reel Rundown– so the longer they survive, the more each contestant gets paid.

However, the winner of the top two prizes does not receive the weekly stipend but instead is awarded their allotted sum of money.

The grand prize winner receives $750k, the runner-up gets $75k, and America’s favorite player gets $50k.

Contestant Taylor Hale made Big Brother history when she became the first black woman to win the competition in the season 24 finale.

Hale went up against Monte Taylor in the finale as they each answered questions and appealed to the jury in an attempt to win.

The final plea to the jury was an emotional one, as Hale asked them if they wanted to vote for the person who won more competitions “or do we want a winner where we choose resiliency, we choose persistence as a reason to win this game?”

She finished her speech by saying: “Jury members, I am challenging you to make the hard decision and change the course of this game and choose progress for the course of this game. I can be the winner of this season and I promise you will not do it in vain if you do it tonight.”

In a final decision, the jury voted for Hale in an 8-1 vote, granting her the winner and giving her the $750k prize money.

Viewers also voted for Hale as their favorite houseguest of the season, earning her another $50k, and making it the first time the favorite houseguest has won the show.
